J.M. MacLeod has worked as a stringer photo journalist for The Courier of Littleton, NH, and staff writer/photographer for The Caledonian Record in St. Johnsbury, VT. He has directed evangelistic Christian coffeehouse ministries, served as deacon and teacher in various denominational churches, pastored house churches, and, with his wife Beverly, been a youth group leader. The Saga of the Singing Sword Brigade Series is the outcome of the couple’s spiritual journey including their escape from deception. John writes to encourage believers to study and apply scriptural truth to their lives, engage in evangelism, and participate in the visible and invisible spiritual warfare around us.
In this interview, he talks with us about his inspiration behind writing his latest book, The Siege of Logon’s Bridge.
FF: Why did you begin to write novels?
Retirement and time allowed me to write the stories t hat I’ve had forming for years. I always wanted to tell stories to turn Christians’ hearts towards the Lord.
FF: What inspires your writing?
Good and evil. There’s something so pure and relatable about good and evil and fantasy novels. They’re the sort of stories I want my kids and grandkids to read, and want my name attached to.
FF: Are you planning more books?
I’m always planning on writing more. Telling my grandkids stories takes up most of my time, but I’ll make time to write as long as I can.
FF: What motivates your writing?
The Lord, my wife and kids, and of course the grandkids. The novels I write are a legacy to them, and to anyone who is reads.
