USA Today bestselling Christian fiction author Lisa Harris is the author of more than forty books, including The Escape, The Chase, The Traitor’s Pawn, Vanishing Point, A Secret to Die For, and Deadly Intentions, as well as The Nikki Boyd Files and the Southern Crimes Series.

In this interview Lisa talks with us about the conclusion of her thrilling US Marshals Series with the release of her new book, The Catch.

FF: Can you please provide a brief description of your newest novel, The Catch?
After a harrowing attempt on a judge’s life at the courthouse, Deputy US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn are tasked with finding a missing woman and an endangered child in connection to the murder of the judge’s wife. What seems like a fairly straightforward case becomes hopelessly tangled when the marshals discover that the woman they are searching for is in WITSEC and the Amber Alert put out for the missing child has put two lives in danger.

Madison and Jonas are forced into a race to find the woman and the child before the men who want her dead discover her location. And in a final showdown that could cost her everything, Madison will come face-to-face with the person who murdered her husband.

FF: The Catch is the third and final book in your US Marshals Series. What do readers have to look forward to in this exciting conclusion?
Not only does this book have a page-turning fugitive chase from Seattle to the beautiful Washington coast, but the search for Madison’s husband’s murderer continues, as well as the thread of her growing romantic relationship with Jonas Quinn.

FF: This series follows US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn as they take down high-profile fugitives. They’ve come a long way since book 1. How do you think readers will see them grow and change in The Catch?
As partners, their trust for each other has grown, but along the way, so have their personal feelings for each other. The Catch will continue the romance thread as they explore those feelings and the risks involved in a relationship.

FF: Madison James has been searching for the truth behind her late husband’s murder, but sometimes the truth we seek ends up being something we wish we never found out. Without spoilers, is this something Madison might encounter in the book?
I think the truth often brings with it a myriad of feelings, and this holds true for Madison. There is a finality to knowing the truth of what happened, and for Madison, lingering guilt as to why she wasn’t able to stop her husband’s murder. But sometimes it takes digging up wounds in order for them to heal.

FF: Madison and Jonas are thrown into a variety of highly intense situations in The Catch. Can you describe some of the circumstances they encounter?
This is a fast-paced suspense novel, so there’s going to be a lot of intense situations! Right off the bat, Madison is called to the courthouse to help deal with threats made against a judge. The situation quickly spirals to include a dead body, a missing suspect, and an endangered child. Her search leads Jonas and her all the way from Seattle to the stunning Olympic Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, where the tables are turned and the men they are after hunt them down, determined to stop them. And of course, there is the final showdown with Madison’s husband’s murderer!

FF: What kind of research was required to accurately write about the witness protection program?
Besides research on the internet, I did a lot of reading, as well as spoke with a US Marshal about specific questions I had. Before writing the series, I didn’t know much about the US Marshals, but I’ve been impressed with this branch of law enforcement that is always working hard behind the scenes.

FF: When writing a series, do you prefer writing novels that center on different characters in each book, or do you prefer writing books that have the same characters but offer a deeper story arc?
I really love writing series that allow a deeper story arc for my characters. It also allows a more slow-burning romance that feels more authentic. Especially because my books typically take place over such a short amount of time.

FF: What do you hope readers will gain from your book?
I hope that they are first of all entertained with a page-turning story. I also want to remind them that God is there, even when we can’t see him. The pain of loss is difficult, but God is still on the throne. For people like Madison and Jonas, who see pain and hurt on a daily basis, it’s a reminder that God is still sovereign, and still sees each of us individually. It’s something I believe we all need to be reminded.

FF: What are you working on next?
I am finishing up a crossover novella that will come out in the spring. It includes characters from my Nikki Boyd Series and is about when Madison and Jonas first met!
