Karen Malley lives in Southeastern Pennsylvania with her husband and two sons. She works full-time as a scientist but enjoys writing in her spare time. When not writing (with her left hand), she enjoys camping, hiking, playing board games, and especially reading! She loves reading faith-based stories, because we can all use a happy ending.
In this interview Karen talks with us about her latest novel, Sunflowers and Suspicions.
FF: Sunflowers and Suspicions is a multi-faceted story and the third book in a series. Tell us a little about it.
Julie’s twin sister goes missing, and we learn of the struggles that led to a fracturing of their relationship. In spite of their differences, Julie drops everything to find her.
FF: What is the spiritual takeaway in this particular novel?
Julie shows us what it is like when Jesus pursues us. Even if we turn our back on Him, He continues to love us and wants to bring us home. God has a plan for you and can forgive anything.
FF: There are many topics today that are hot-button issues. Is there anything edgy or possibly controversial in your book?
Julie works at a pregnancy care center where they discourage women from having abortions.
FF:What is your hero’s main character flaw and what makes him heroic?
He spends so much time helping other people he doesn’t think about himself. He cares about other people and is willing to put their needs first.
FF: Tell us about your heroine?
She feels unworthy compared to her sister. She never gives up on her sister—always prays for her and wants the best for her.
FF: What can readers learn from your villain?
No one is truly evil – everyone has their own motivation for what they do.
FF: Which readers do you think will like your book the most?
My book will appeal to readers of Carol James because it is a story about people growing closer to God and finding love.
