Witness Protection | God is Stronger Than the Drug Cartels
Robert Whitlow’s latest book is a legal suspense novel featuring drug cartels and small town lawyers.
Main Themes
When he was younger, Jon found himself inadvertently working for a powerful drug cartel. When he discovered the unethical side of the business, the allure of money was enough to keep him there . . . until the FBI raided the office. Testifying against the others earned him a place in the witness protection program, where he’s spent the past few years trying to build a new, honest life as a tree farmer.
His new identity and sense of safety is thrown into jeopardy when one of his employees is accused of cartel connections and smuggling drugs. Jon is convinced he was being used as a blind mule and helps pay the lawyer fees for private representation.
But the lawyer, Kelli, is still reeling from her divorce and makes several massive blunders in handling the case. Unless new evidence of innocence can be found, it’s not looking good for the employee or Jon’s carefully protected status is the witness protection system.
Some of the main themes in the novel are the importance of prayer and trusting God to provide peace and protection. Another main theme is looking out for your neighbors and friends and being willing to step in to help when a family is in need.
Faith Elements
Kelli’s aunt Carly is a devout Christian who intercedes in prayer continually for Kelli and the case her niece is working on. Kelli and Jon are both positively influenced by the faith of their family members and decide to give trusting God another try.
Family Friendly Considerations
There are no romantic or overly violent scenes in Witness Protection. The subject of drug cartels might be a little intense for younger readers, but this novel is still a light read, all things considered. It’s a clean legal suspense novel for any adult or older teen.
