Veteran Christian Authors Join Forces For “Safe and Captivating” Youth Book Catalog

Calling themselves “The Good Seed Collective,” a small but growing number of veteran Christian authors are joining forces to offer families—and particularly younger readers—a collection of “clean, safe, and captivating stories that inspire hope.”

Their initial joint-effort catalog went online Dec.1, featuring more then 300 titles, all linked to Amazon buying pages. Offerings include picture books, middle-grade fiction and nonfiction, and young adult (teen) fiction and nonfiction from a variety of Christian publishers, as well as traditionally published books whose rights have reverted to the authors.

The collective anticipates adding more participants and titles in the coming year. But contributing authors so far include founding members Angela Hunt, Bill Myers, and Robert Elmer, as well as Jerry B. Jenkins, Lisa Bergren, and Stephen Bly/Janet Chester Bly.

Representing a variety of backgrounds and many decades of writing experience, all Good Seed members subscribe to a historic, biblical statement of faith. And that, they say, is a large part of the appeal of the Good Seed catalog: Parents and grandparents can trust what they’re buying for their kids.

A specially designed “seal of approval” features prominently in their promotional outreach. With it, the group says they want to “plant seeds of faith and always ensure the safety of every young reader.”

“Our books aim to entertain and inspire,” says organizer Robert Elmer, “but most of all to point young readers to the truth of Jesus Christ. Sometimes the biblical themes are explicit, other times they crouch between the lines of a clean, entertaining story. But our storytelling is always our mission, and we all want to provide the highest and best reading experience.”
