Twilight Tactics by Lynette Eason is the first book in her new Soldiers in Shadows series, set at Broken Chains Ranch, a recovery facility for veterans struggling with PTSD.
Main Themes
Elena and Sully have secretly admired each other for years, but now isn’t the time for romance. Sully is an FBI agent protecting a teenager who witnessed a mob attack; he only came to Broken Chains Ranch because their other safehouse had been compromised. Elena works there, teaching the survival skills she learned when her family was part of the preppers. But not even Broken Chains Ranch is safe, although Sully and Elena disagree about who keeps attacking them. Sully thinks the mob has found them, while Elena thinks the prepper community is trying to get to her.
There are main themes of not allowing peer pressure to corrupt good character, as well as learning to trust others instead of doing things alone.
Favorite Scenes
I enjoyed the action sequences, although some of the character’s plot armor was a little thick.
Faith Elements
The characters prayed and tried to trust God when the danger got close.
Family Friendly Considerations
There is a fair bit of violence and some blood, although nothing gory or graphic. The romance is clean and kisses-only.
