In October, author Lisa Washington won the Author Elite Award for Clean Romance for her third book, Love Lifted Me (Washington Way Publishing). Award Winners were announced October 23 during a virtual ceremony live on Facebook. Winners were given the chance to speak through video call and Washington used the time to thank her family, friends and faith.

Danger lurks around every corner for career military man and government, secret operative Nehemiah Bolden. When he continues to have nightmares of an assignment gone wrong, he decides it is time to retire from the military and find another career path. Just one thing stopping him, a ghost from his past.

Nehemiah meets an attractive woman while on vacation and has an overwhelming need to protect her. He soon discovers that meeting her is more than a coincidence. Over the years, he has kept her safe but now their pasts may put their lives in jeopardy again. They need to both trust in a love like no other.

The Author Elite Awards is given annually by Author Academy Elite (AAE) and presented at the Author Elite Awards Ceremony. The Author Elite Awards are handed out for several book categories, including Advice, Business and Investing, Children’s and Middle Grade, Fantasy, General Fiction, General Nonfiction, Health, Historical Fiction, Memoir, Mystery, Religious Nonfiction, Clean Romance, Science Fiction, Self-Help, Thriller, and Young Adult.

This is Washington’s second year in the Author Elite Awards: Her second novel, More Than You Know, placed in the 2019 Top 10 finalists for the General Fiction category. She was also awarded the Best Christian Fiction Award by the 2018 African American Literary Award Show with her first novel, When You Least Expect It.

An independent author currently working on her next series, Lisa Washington’s next title is the second book in her My Sister’s Keeper collection, Kaleigh, which releases on December 8.

“I am a Christian woman and everything I do is to glorify God,” she told All Author. “Even in my writing, I couldn’t leave God out. He gave me this gift. I want to use my writing to share how people incorporate God into their everyday lives. Especially when life throws curve balls.”

Lisa Washington is a God fearing woman, daughter, mother, wife and grandmother. Born and raised in Detroit, MI, Lisa attended Detroit Public Schools and graduated from Wayne State University. After serving in the United States Navy, Lisa and her son Marcus lived in Detroit and Norfolk, Va before making Noblesville, IN their home. Lisa rekindled with the love of her life, Markel Washington, owner of Washington Way Financial, LLC. They were married in 2015. ​ Lisa has worked in several departments of government including the City of Norfolk, the State of Indiana, and the Department of Veterans Affairs. She has always wanted to write, leading to her decision to get a Masters of Fine Arts degree from Butler University's Creative Writing Program. ​ As an active member of the Way Church Indianapolis, and the National Council of Negro Women Lisa is committed to community involvement and service.
