The thriller No Safe Haven (B&H) is the debut of mother/daughter writing team Kim and Kayla Woodhouse. “I wrote the adult characters’ points-ofview,” says Kim. “Kayla wrote the 12-year-old viewpoints—she was also 12 at the time. Her main character, Andie, has the same rare nerve disorder Kayla has.”

The first in a series, much of the novel takes place on Alaskan mountain Sultana, which is steeper and more treacherous than Denali. “Maybe 20 people a year climb it,” Kim says.
