She has won the ACFW Lifetime Achievement Award and the Romantic Times Career Achievement Award. Her avid research resonates in her many bestselling series. Tracie and her family make their home in Montana.

In this interview, Tracie talks about the latest book in her The Heart of Cheyenne Series, titled, A Truth Revealed.

FF: Can you please provide a brief summary of your novel A Truth Revealed?
Laura Evans returns home from boarding school, navigating the clash between her deep faith and her father’s opposing beliefs. But her world shifts when she crosses paths with a devoted preacher, Wilson Porter, who is driven by his mission to aid the Shoshone people. As their bond deepens, their love is challenged by deception and tragedy.

FF: In A Truth Revealed, you introduce readers to Laura Evans and Wilson Porter. Can you provide some background information on both of your characters?
Laura is an only child. Her mother died when she was young, and her grief-stricken father sent her away to boarding school. She believed he was a good father and that his pain was worthy of accepting their separation as she hoped he would heal in time and bring her home. Now she’s grown and returning to live with her father. Will is a preacher waiting for his assignment from God. He believes that, like other generations of the men in his family, God would have him work with the native people, and he’s come to Cheyenne to await clearance to go to the reservation to preach.

FF: Laura Evans has been away at school. Why did she decide to join her father in the newly formed town of Cheyenne, Wyoming?
She finished her education at a women’s college and now is ready to reunite with her father. She believes they have both healed from the death of her mother and now need to be there for each other, especially since her father has ambitions to be the first territorial governor of Wyoming.

FF: Will Porter has a calling to help the Shoshone Indians. What event led him to question his ministry and his belief in God?
The death of his mother and sister by rogue Indians—at least it’s believed to be rogue Indians.

FF: How do Laura and Will’s paths intersect?
Laura runs him over with her horse and carriage just after he got news about his mother and sister’s death.

FF: Laura’s ideas and love for her father come into question as she slowly realizes he is not the man she thought he was. Without giving away any spoilers, can you provide some information about his character and his dealings within the community?
Granite Evans looks like the most amazing and beneficial of citizens in Cheyenne. He’s generous and seems so faithful to do the right thing, but this man has an entire evil empire going on behind the scenes.

FF: A Truth Revealed delves into the topic of forgiveness. Are there other lessons that readers can take away from reading this novel?
There’s also the issue of what to do when you have a crisis of faith. So many people who grow up in a Christian household have a faith, but it’s not all that tested until after they’re out on their own. Then when something big happens, they find the entire situation confusing and sometimes alienating. The story deals with learning to trust God when God seems untrustworthy.

FF: This is the final book in The Heart Of Cheyenne Series. How have all of the books in the series been connected?
The books are all set in Cheyenne in the late 1860s. Characters from book one, A Love Discovered, and book two, A Choice Considered, become friends with characters from the final book in the series, A Truth Revealed. But each story stands on its own.

FF: Are there any threads that run through the whole series that will be wrapped up in this book?
The start-up and development of Cheyenne, Wyoming, goes on throughout the series, and that was at the heart of my desire to create this series. There will be a second three-book series called The Hope Of Cheyenne, which will pick up twenty years later and take the town and territory into statehood.
