With the recent announcement that the Family Christian retail chain is closing across the country, several independent Christian booksellers hope to step into the gap.

As reported by Publishers Weekly, some of the Christian retailers running special promotions include Baker Book House, in Grand Rapids, Mich.; the Greatest Gift and Scripture Supply in Pueblo, Colo.; and The Parable Christian Store of St. Joseph, Michigan.
“Family Christian’s closing gives the indies an opportunity to step up and be noticed,” Baker Book House’s Sue Smith told the trade journal. “This is an opportunity to capture the sales of disappointed Family Christian customers.”
Family Christian Stores, which has locations in 36 states, is currently offering items at 30-percent off, with no refunds or exchanges.
