Chapter One Again | Contemporary Romance

Chapter One Again is Keelia Clarkson’s first novel, featuring Jane as she struggles to discover who she is and where she belongs. Between the whimsical draw of small town life and unexpectedly running into her high school crush, Jane has to decide if she’ll give her small hometown another chance or keep trying to make it big in New York City.

Main Themes

Some of the main themes in Chapter One Again include contentment and second chances. Jane has wanted to escape her small town since high school, where being invisible hurt worse than anything else. But life in the big city is just as lonely . . . and without the support of her family and oldest friends. She feels pulled in two directions and doesn’t know what she really wants.

After a series of disastrous dates in NYC, Jane finds herself longing for the peace and safety of being home. Working in NYC is also loosing its appeal. Jane is a ghostwriter, so while people love her books, she continues to be invisible. She longs to write a book under her own name, but she doesn’t know if her publisher is willing to let her step outside of her narrow role.

All this turmoil follows Jane home, where a series of events cause her to realize that while the big city might not appreciate her, there are people at home who love her deeply and unconditionally.

Faith Elements

Jane has drifted from her faith, but being surrounded by family and old friends causes her to rethink some of the doubts she has about God. She sees the joy and fulfillment they have in their faith and realizes that she needs some of that in this stage of life.

Family Friendly Considerations

This is a very clean, kissing-only romance novel suitable for all teens and adults.
