A Love Once Lost | Second Chance Historical Romance

Main Themes
A Love Once Lost follows the story of Amy Bridwell and James Fletcher. Once in love when they were younger, they separated when Amy’s father surprised her with a public betrothal to another man. James left in anger on a tour of England and the surrounding areas, while Amy was left to handle her betrothal and run her family. They reunite six years later when Amy’s father and two sisters, along with her, go on a tour themselves. There, James finds out that Amy has broken off her betrothal and never loved again. He is forced to relive the passion once between them, and mend the relationship with Amy.
It is a book of second chance romance and forgiveness over conflict caused in the heat of the moment. James is now betrothed to a young woman whose heart does not belong to him, and Amy is stuck caring for her family, all of whom do not recognize the effort she puts into making their lives run well. Being stuck in the same company after six years is trying for the both of them, as both have feelings that never left, but now have other obligations that hinder their growth together.
I would say some other themes would be second chance romance, forbidden love, poor hard working guy with wealthier gal, and 1700’s vibe.
Faith Elements
There really wasn’t any aspect of faith in the books. Church was not mentioned, and Cupid was referenced at the end of the book as “still doing his job.” There was possibly one hastily mentioned prayer, but no thought was given, and it was not lingered upon.
Family Friendly Considerations
It was a very family friendly book. It had clean romances, with a few stolen and quick kisses mentioned here and there. Marriage is viewed with a strong light, since it is set in the 1700′ era. However, there are mentions of betrayal in couples not yet married, and the discordances that brings to people. However, it is a good, clean romance book for teens and adults.
