As Evie is trying to find a way to tell her parents, without disappointing them, she doesn’t want to be a nurse, Max is trying to find similar answers of purpose and calling. Despite business success and a bright future, life at home is strained and he feels empty inside. When he runs into Evie at a fundraising party, he finds himself attracted to her faith and peaceful contentment. And when her loving and boisterous family welcomes him as one of their own, he knows he doesn’t ever want to lose Evie.
There are themes of honesty and courage, as Evie hides secrets from her family and experiences the internal turmoil and distress that brings. Max learns to surrender his life to God and extend forgiveness to his father and stepmother.

Faith is very prominent in the book, whether it blends seamlessly into the scene or not. Max’s character has a redemption arc as he comes to faith and starts reading the Bible and attending church.
Family Friendly Considerations
This is a clean novel, although some of the romance scenes lean slightly more towards low spice than no spice. There is a devastating fire and several medical scenes, although nothing intense or graphic.
